NEW REQUIREMENT BY IMMIGRATION

Dear valued clients,

Effective from 1st September 2016, following are the new updates that will be implemented:

1.Passport validity

For any Immigration matters, passport validity must be 12 months and above during Endorsement Stage.

2.Approval letter

For employment purposes, Employment Pass (EP) Category I, II & III must obtain an Approval Letter before entering Malaysia. The same is applicable for dependents of the EP holder.

All countries that requires visa must obtain an Approval Letter and Visa/Visa with Reference (VDR) from any Malaysian Embassies/High Commissions/Consulate General abroad.

3.Reference Visa (VDR)

Existing pass holder as mentioned below is required to exit Malaysia and collect Reference Visa (VDR):

  1. EP Category III to EP Category III
  2. Dependent Pass (DP) to EP Category III
  3. Student Pass to EP Category III
  4. Professional Visit Pass (PVP) to EP Category III

4.Cooling off period

Existing pass holder as mentioned below is required to exit Malaysia and serve 3 months “Cooling off Period”:

  1. EP Category III to EP Category III
    • Change of employer with same category
    • Same company with same category during endorsement of EP in the 4th year, either renewal or change of position.
    • Temporary Employment Pass (PLKS) to any categories of EP(I, II & III)
    • Professional Visit Pass (PVP) with 12 months duration

5.Permission to Study for EP holder (Higher Learning – Public/Private University)

Submission of application must be submitted via e-Xpats Service Centre

6.New born

For child born in Malaysia and obtained passport after 6 months from date of birth, Special Pass from Enforcement Unit of Immigration Putrajaya is required before endorsement of Dependent Pass. Following are the steps:

  1. Obtain Acknowledgement Letter from e-Xpats Service Centre upon submission of Stage 1 application
  2. Obtain memo from Immigration Unit in MDEC
  3. Proceed to the Enforcement Unit for Special Pass application

7.Renewal of Social Visit Pass

  • Children above 18 years old only

Original letter from Commissioner of Oaths and confirmation letter from respective Embassy in Malaysia with regard to latest status (single, unemployed and under custodian of EP holder) is required for every renewal.

  • Common Law Wife

Original letter from respective Embassy in Malaysia as proof of relationship is required for every renewal.
