LATEST UPDATE FROM IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT ON OVERSTAY AND SPECIAL PASS APPLICATIONS

Dear Valued Clients,

Effective 21 October 2025, the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) has introduced the Program Pengurusan Tinggal Lebih Masa (Overstay Management Programme) to strengthen compliance and management of overstay cases.

 

Under this programme, Employment Pass (EP) and Dependant Pass (DP) holders who commit an overstay not exceeding 90 days will be compounded without referral to the respective Bahagian Penguatkuasa Imigresen Department (Enforcement Division).

 

Compound Rates

 

Non-Eligible Categories (Cases to be referred to Enforcement Division)

 

1. Overstay exceeding 90 days

2. Repeated overstay cases

3. Overstay under Special Pass

4. Individuals with criminal or immigration offence records in Malaysia

5. Names listed under the "Senarai Syak" (Suspect List)

 

Important Reminder:

To avoid any overstay incidents and related compounds, companies are reminded to plan and submit renewal or extension applications at least three (3) months before the pass expiry date.
