15.07.2025

KUALA LUMPUR, 15 July 2025 – The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Jabatan Digital Negara (JDN) – in strategic partnership with Synapze Sdn Bhd – today announced that the highly anticipated Malaysia Digital Xceleration (MDX) Summit 2025 and SmartGov Malaysia 2025 will take place from 17 to 19 September 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Now in its third edition, the MDX Summit 2025, held alongside the inaugural SmartGov Malaysia 2025, reinforces Malaysia’s position as a leading digital nation in ASEAN. As the country’s premier digital economy platform, both events serve as a hub for transformative discussions on emerging technologies, supporting Malaysia’s ambition to lead the regional data economy in line with the Madani Government’s vision of building an inclusive, sustainable and fully digital smart nation.

MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil said that the summit will further catalyse Malaysia’s digital leadership in ASEAN by driving innovation, investment and inclusive growth. “Technologies utilising digital assets and digital agents in its core will further drive outcomes through talent development, innovation and responsible AI to smarter public services,” he said.

MDX Summit will focus on five core areas: Next-Gen Data, Next-Gen Computing, Next-Gen Trust, Next-Gen Creativity, and Next-Gen Talent, demonstrating how Malaysia is applying technological innovation into applied solutions benefiting businesses, government services, the rakyat, and the broader regional economy.

The event will feature international experts, including Dr. Keyu Jin, Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and author of The New China Playbook, and Gerard Grech, Managing Director at Founders by the University of Cambridge and founding CEO of Tech Nation UK.

Meanwhile, JDN Director General Ts. Nik Zalbiha binti Nik Mat explained that the government is committed to building an ecosystem where innovation thrives while safeguarding data sovereignty, trust and inclusivity. “This vision will be reflected in the event’s focus on AI-powered citizen chatbots, cybersecurity partnerships and smarter public service delivery,” she said.

The SmartGov Malaysia 2025, themed “GovTech for the Future – Innovating Public Service Delivery”, aims to strengthen Malaysia’s GovTech ecosystem and accelerate digital adoption in public services. It highlights three pillars of future-ready governance: AI for citizen-centric solutions, Big Data for trust and transparency, and Cloud Computing for agile, resilient services.

SmartGov Malaysia 2025 will feature international speakers including Kamales Lardi, CEO of Lardi & Partner Consulting GmbH and best-selling author of The Human Side of Digital Business Transformation, will be sharing her insights on how future transformation is more centred on humans than we think.

Both the MDX Summit and SmartGov Malaysia 2025 will offer immersive showcases, strategic roundtables, and high-level networking across sectors. A single integrated venue will house all government and industry exhibits, maximising opportunities for collaboration and meaningful partnerships that extend beyond the summit.
