JAKARTA, 2 July 2025 – Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) continues to drive the nation’s digital economy across ASEAN, strengthening regional cooperation and market access for Malaysian companies. Its latest initiative under the DEX CONNEX Indonesia programme brought 83 Malaysian tech companies into the Indonesian market, which generated more than RM450 million in digital export opportunities.

DEX CONNEX Indonesia is a key regional initiative that facilitated the exchange of 26 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Malaysian and Indonesian companies. These agreements span sectors such as cybersecurity, AI, cloud services, F&B, digital platforms, and talent development. They are aimed at creating a robust and collaborative digital ecosystem across ASEAN, especially as Malaysia serves as ASEAN Chair and champions innovation as a driver of regional growth and resilience.

MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil described Indonesia as ‘a vital partner in Malaysia’s digital ambitions’.

“Through DEX CONNEX, Malaysia is focusing on cross-border collaborations to continue building a resilient digital bridge between two thriving ecosystems,” said Anuar.

“With our strong tech ecosystem and the spirit of ASEAN unity, both nations continue to nurture a future where digital growth is inclusive, sustainable, and benefits all layers of society, ensuring long-term success,” he added.

This initiative is supported by the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Malaysia, MATRADE Jakarta, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of Indonesia (KOMDIGI), together with Malaysian and Indonesian partners.

Present at the programme and MoU exchange ceremony with Anuar were His Excellency Dato’ Syed Md Hasrin Tengku Hussin, the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Indonesia.

Also present at the event were Yang Terhormat Bapak Sonny Hendra Sudaryana, Acting Director of Digital Ecosystems Development, Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (KOMDIGI); Mr. Azka Aufary Ramli, Chairman of the DPC, Himpunan Pengusaha Pribumi Indonesia (HIPPI) South Jakarta; Mr. Muhammad Ryandi Haroen, Chairman of BPD, Himpunan Pengusaha Muda Indonesia (HIPMI) Jaya (Jakarta Raya); Mr. Akbar Himawan Buchari, Chairman of the Central Executive Board (BPP) of HIPMI; Mr. Mani Wannan Letchumanan, President of the Malaysia Chambers & Commerce Indonesia (MCCI); Mr. Ray Sugiarto, Founder of XCION, Mr. Erwin Soerjadi, Chief Executive Officer of vOffice Indonesia; Mr. Mulyawan Gani, CEO of Digital Ecosystem, Sinarmas Land; Mr. Bayu Seto, Partner of Living Lab Ventures (Sinarmas Land); government representatives, tech industry players, and regional investors.

DEX CONNEX, a flagship platform of the GAIN (Gateway, Amplify, Invest and Nurture) programme, connects Malaysian companies with global markets and tech ecosystems with the aim of fostering bilateral digital trade.

MDEC’s GAIN programme has achieved RM31.9 billion in revenue from 2017 to 2023 with exports valued at over RM11.2 billion. Success on this platform is driven by companies leveraging its features, which are rooted in MDEC’s extensive experience in export facilitation for tech companies.
