The Rising Star Award recognizes the most anticipated game to be released by a new game studio.
Audience Choice Award
The Audience Choice Awards recognizes the game with the highest votes from the audience and players at LEVEL UP KL 2021 Online.
Best Technology
The Best Technology recognizes the overall excellence of technology in a game – that creatively uses advanced technologies, multiplayer including graphics programming, artificial intelligence and networking.
Best Visual Art
The Best Visual Art recognizes the overall excellence of visual art in a game- including art direction, animation, modeling, character design, texture creation and more.
Best Game Design
The Best Game Design recognizes the overall excellence of design in a game including gameplay mechanics, playability, play balancing and level design.
Best Innovation
The Best Innovation recognizes the single game that demonstrates true innovation, advances the state of the art, and pushes the boundaries of games as an expressive medium.
Best Storytelling
The Best Storytelling recognizes the game with the most outstanding storytelling and narrative development including pot construction, scenario and story dialogue.
Best Audio
The Best Audio recognizes the overall excellence of audio in a game inclusive of sound effects, musical composition & score, original song, licensed soundtrack, sound design, orchestration etc.
Best Student Game
The Best Student Game recognizes the overall best game developed by student(s) from the Southeast Asia region.

Finalists will be gifted with free access to the Business Connection Program happening in September. There, they will be able to connect with investors, publishers and potential partners. They will also be showcased at the MY Digital Creativity Festival virtual gamified expo.
Winners will be announced during MY Digital Creativity Festival at the SEA Game Awards ceremony, where there will be special guest appearances and performers. The ceremony will be livestreamed for all to see.

What is the MYDCF programme?
MY Digital Creativity Festival is a combined animation and game community based virtual festival to celebrate the digital creative content industry ecosystem in Malaysia and the rest of South-East Asia throughout the month of September 2021.
What is LEVELUP KL?
Beginning in 2015, LEVELUP KL initially started as an event specifically for participants from within the gaming industry. In 2019, LEVELUP KL opened their doors to the public audience for the first time, creating an inclusive community where everyone can experience the latest game related content and share their love and appreciation for the gaming industry.
What is Kre8tif!?
Having been around since 2009, Kre8tif! has maintained a strong dedication to gathering industry participants from the animation and design industry, with 2021 being their first major event with public attendees.
What is the objective of LEVELUP KL and Kre8tif?
Both LEVELUP KL and Kre8tif! share the objectives of:
- Driving business opportunities for our local games and animation industry
- Being a promotional platform for our local product and services to public and potential investors & buyers (broadcasters / publishers)
