Preserving Malaysia’s Heritage Through Digital Innovation

Empowering Malaysians to digitise cultural artefacts in 3D, in collaboration with Basecamp VFX and ASWARA.

Turning Reality into Digital Masterpieces

The Photogrammetry Programme is a nationwide initiative aimed at preserving Malaysia’s cultural heritage using cutting-edge photogrammetry technology.

Photogrammetry is the process of capturing real-world objects using photographs to create accurate 3D digital models. This technique is widely used in gaming, virtual reality, architecture, and cultural heritage preservation—bringing Malaysia’s iconic artefacts into the digital world.

In collaboration with Basecamp VFX and ASWARA, this initiative trains industry professionals, educators, and students to capture and digitise cultural artefacts, creating high-quality 3D assets for future generations.

See below for a before-and-after comparison of a cultural artefact turned into a 3D model.

Note: Among the software used are Reality Capture, MeshLab, Blender, Instant Meshes, and others.
