Vice President, Strategy & Innovation
Dr Muhammad Hafiz Wan Rosli is the Vice President of Strategy & Innovation at the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). With over two decades of experience across technology, sustainability, investments, and organisational transformation, Dr Hafiz leads MDEC's strategy and innovation agenda.
The role involves translating the Ministry of Digital's priorities into secure, scalable digital solutions that benefit Malaysians, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI), cloud technologies and emerging digital capabilities.
Dr Hafiz began his career in academia as a lecturer at the University of California, Santa Barbara, before joining Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) as a Senior Lecturer. His work focused on computer science, data analytics and digital technologies, combining research and practical innovation to solve real-world challenges.
Before joining MDEC, Dr Hafiz held several senior leadership roles at Khazanah Nasional Berhad across sustainability, investments, and systems & analytics. He led the development of Khazanah’s climate strategies, including its Net Zero Pathway and Climate Adaptation & Resilience. He also spearheaded the Dana Impak initiative to invest in carbon markets and nature-based solutions.
With expertise in organisational transformation, Dr Hafiz has led enterprise digital transformation initiatives, implemented strategic business platforms, and strengthened data governance and digital capabilities. His work leverages AI, data and automation to improve organisational performance and deliver meaningful outcomes.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Media Arts and Technology from the University of California, Santa Barbara; a Master of Fine Arts in Computer Art from the School of Visual Arts, New York; and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in New Media from Universiti Sains Malaysia.
