Our client is Malaysia’s largest container terminal.  The port delivers reliable, efficient and advanced services to major shipping lines and box operators, providing shippers in Malaysia and abroad extensive connectivity to the global market.   

This port is a joint venture between a well-known utilities and infrastructure conglomerate (70%) and a leading global ports group with a global port network in 69 countries (30%). Our client allows round-the-clock berthing for all vessels due to the absence of weather or tide restrictions. Because of its strategic location at the confluence of the main east-west shipping lanes, the port offers a turnaround time of just 45 minutes. Protected by a deep-water bay with a water depth of 16m, the port is situated on 1,935 acres. The approach channel’s width extends to 420m. The terminal is equipped with 66 Super Post Panamax cranes, of which 24 have a 24-box outreach catering for the next generation of Triple E size vessels. These cranes also have twin-lift capability to further enhance productivity. 

The container terminal is designed to handle 8 million TEUs annually. It has 14 linear berths with a total linear wharf length of 5.04km. Its operations are backed by a state-of-the-art information technology system with links to all port users. By synergising all the port’s operations and communication centres, the IT network system facilitates a free flow of real-time information and provides near paperless transactions between shipping lines, forwarders, shipping agents and the port to ensure high productivity.
