What is MYWiT?
MYWiT is an incentive programme under the 2021 Budget to spur job creation and reduce unemployment. The incentive consists of 2 programmes: Digital Tech Apprenticeship (DTA) and Digital Business Services (DBS).
What are MYWiT’s benefits for companies and employers?
MYWiT offers an opportunity for companies/employers to hire unemployed and retrenched Malaysians and train them according to their needs at a subsidized hiring cost.
What are MYWiT’s benefits for jobseekers?
MYWiT offers jobseekers the opportunity to secure a digital job with fast growing companies and get trained for in-demand digital skills.
What is DBS and what are the programme's objectives?
The term DBS is short for Digital Business Services.
This program is designed to:
• help address and curb unemployment by tapping into fast-growing DBS jobs;
• position Malaysia as a competitive location for digital investment
What are the incentives offered under DBS?
The incentives offered under DBS include:
• RM9,800 – RM20,600 (Maximum incentive per person, depending on the salary offered)
• Salary incentive 40% of employee’s monthly salary for 6 months (salary range: RM2,000 to RM6,500), and
• Up to RM5,000/pax training subsidy or whichever is lower:
o In-house training AND/OR
o Enrol in any short courses listed under the “Work and Learn” category in MDEC’s Digital Skills Training Directory
• The incentives will be reimbursed to employers
Who is eligible for this program?
For companies/employers, qualifications include:
• Minimum capital: RM20,000
• Incorporated in Malaysia
• Not subject to liquidation/dormant
• Not a company or a subsidiary of the public-sector, federal, state statutory body or local authority
• The organisation’s company directors/shareholder/partner/senior management must declare and disclose if there is close business family relationship with any of MDEC’s director or employees
What types of jobs are eligible for the incentive programme?
Finance & Accounting, Human Resource, Marketing, Content Moderation and Customer Experience
What is the minimum salary and contractual employment duration for participants?
The minimum monthly salary is RM2,000 with a minimum of 12-month employment contract.
How many participants/positions can a company apply?
In support of companies/employers of all sizes, there are no minimum vacancy required. Companies/employers can apply up to a maximum of 500 pax for DBS and/or 50 pax for DTA subject to grant availability and approval.
If a company has 500 vacancies and the hiring is spread out through three quarters, should a company apply for 500 vacancies or apply for vacancies that are going to be filled in the next 2 months?
Companies/employers can only apply for immediate vacancies. A company has up to 2 months to fill the vacancies applied for the incentive. Kindly refer to the application process for further details.
Can a company/employer claim on new hires that have joined the organisation prior to receiving the MYWiT programme approval ?
Companies can claim for new employees who have been issued with an employment offer letter after online qualifying application date.
What are the documents needed for the application?
Documents needed for the application include:
• Employment offer letter issued to the new hire after submission of MYWiT qualifying application date
• IC Copy of the new hire
• New hire’s EPF statement for the last 6 months (for unemployed candidates)
• Letter of commitment between employer and training provider or purchase order
• In house training details as per template provided in the online application form
• A cover letter confirming that all of the above documents are legal and the information within are correct and signed by the company’s authorized signatory
What is the age limit for the participants?
There is no age limit. However, candidate selection is entirely within the discretion of the participating companies’ own preferences and needs.
Can I hire foreign workers?
No. The incentive is only applicable to Malaysian candidates.
Can the minimum salary include allowances?
Participating companies/employers must offer gross salary that is subject to minimum wage requirements.
What types of training do companies need to commit?
Participants have the option to select any one or a combination of the following three training modes:
• In-house training (min 40hours) AND/OR
• “Work and Learn” courses listed on MDEC’s Digital Skills Training Directory
How long does it take to receive approval notice after submission of approval form ?
The approval will be corresponded within 25 business days from the approval closing date.
Can the salary/job title/number of participants for specific positions be changed?
No. The same information is required in support of the claim and should in accordance with the approval of the application. For any changes, the company/employer needs to submit a new application.
What if the company/employer is unable to meet the commitment?
Companies/employers are expected to abide by the terms and conditions of the incentive.
Can I replace a participant if one resigns or gets terminated?
Companies/employers are not allowed to backfill/replace participants if they resign or get terminated.
When can I start to claim?
Companies/employers can start claiming the training incentive upon the completion of the training and the salary incentive upon completion of the 3rd and 6th months of the programme.
Does the job seeker need technical skills to qualify for this programme?
No, a job seeker does not need to have technical skills, training will be provided by hiring company.
Who is eligible for the programme?
For Jobseekers:
• Unemployed for a minimum of 2 months or retrenched or fresh graduate
• Malaysian citizen
• Not a current/past beneficiary of any MYyDigitalWorkforce Work In Tech (MYWIT) incentive in any company
• Not part of PenjanaKerjaya 2.0 and Penjana KPT-CAP programmes
• Must not be a close family member (spouse, parent, child (including adopted child or step-child), brother or sister, spouse of child, brother or sister) of a director/shareholder/top management of the hiring company
• Malaysian citizen

• Maximum incentive per pax: RM15,200
• RM1,200/month salary or allowance incentive for 6 months (min salary/allowance of RM 3,000 starting from 4th month onwards)
• Up to RM8,000/pax training subsidy
• Enrol in any “Career Upgrade” course listed in MDEC’s Digital Skills Training Directory here
• Incentives are reimbursed to employers
