It has come to our attention that there have been multiple WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessages, and social media messages from unscrupulous parties posing as persons from Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) offering paid investment services, fake employment opportunities, as well as programmes and/or packages to the public.
Please be advised that these are SCAMS and that MDEC and its employees are not involved with these fraudulent messages and do not make such solicitations. We reserve all rights available under the law against any misrepresentation or infringement of our rights.
MDEC is Malaysia’s lead digital economy agency. We provide intervention and support programmes to Catalyse Growth and to accelerate and drive Digital Investments via Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) and Domestic Direct Investments (DDI).
MDEC also work to nurture a progressive, inclusive, and sustainable digital economy through initiatives and programmes that build digital skills, catalyse technology startups, and foster future digital talents.
Please be advised that MDEC DOES NOT conduct investment schemes with direct end users. We also DO NOT directly solicit employment opportunities, especially the ones presented in the screenshots attached.
Please be assured that the relevant parties in MDEC are looking into the matter to take necessary actions against the perpetrators. We would advise members of the public to take the following necessary precautions against such fraudulent messages:
- Do not respond to these spam messages or provide them any personal and financial information.
- Do not share or forward these messages among your peers, friends and families. Warn them of such suspicious messages.
- Do not click on any links or download any attachments from these messages, as they may contain harmful malware or viruses.
