- Datuk Fadzli brings over 30 years of consulting experience navigating transformation for both the public and private sectors
- New CSO tasked to sharpen MDEC’s corporate strategy in line with MyDIGITAL and rapidly evolving global digital economy
Cyberjaya, 19 April 2021: Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) announced the appointment of Datuk Fadzli Abdul Wahit as its new Chief Strategy Officer, effective 16 May 2021, replacing Dato’ Fadzli Shah. Reporting to Chief Executive Officer, Surina Shukri, he will lead strategic planning for the lead agency driving the digital economy as well as transformation and change management across MDEC.
Datuk Fadzli will work closely with MDEC Operating Council (MOC), members of the leadership team and its Board of Directors to define the organisation’s corporate strategy to deliver on its mission to enable an innovative, inclusive and technologically-integrated society in line with Malaysia 5.0.

This move also validates our Reinvent mission to transform MDEC and ensure we are best equipped to deliver on our mandate to the Rakyat. Datuk Fadzli’s respected strategic thinking and recognised achievements in public and private sector transformation will definitely sharpen our efforts to establish Malaysia as the heart of Digital ASEAN,” said Datuk Wira Dr Hj. Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff, Chairman, MDEC.
Datuk Fadzli has been with KPMG for almost 20 years, most recently serving as Head of Government sector at KPMG Malaysia where he oversaw business development with the government sector and Government Linked Companies (GLC). He has successfully delivered various types of projects in the fields of information technology, project management, strategy and business processes as well as human resource related initiatives.
“Datuk Fadzli is a proven strategist and business partner who brings with him a wealth of experience which will expand our ability to lead Malaysia’s digital transformation agenda. His appointment marks yet another milestone in our Reinvent mission and I am confident that he will be an invaluable asset to both MDEC and the nation,” said Surina Shukri, MDEC CEO.
Datuk Fadzli will be leading MDEC’s macro strategy for the digital economy and development of strategic business plans which includes sustainable revenue-generating opportunities. A key part of this role will be to build close relationships with key ministries and government stakeholders and the industry.
