Harnessing the power of community and technology to deliver a digital future, Malaysia’s flourishing digital economy is one of ASEAN’s bright spots.
At the heart of digital ASEAN, strong connectivity, infrastructure and talent make Malaysia the top choice for the world’s leading industries, companies and start-ups.
The Digital Investment Office (DIO) is a collaborative platform between the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to coordinate and facilitate foreign and domestic digital investments into the country. It also aims to strengthen the coordination among all Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) in promoting and attracting new investments in the rapidly-evolving digital economy.
Endorsed by the National Council of Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution (MED4IR) as the single window for digital investments into the country, the DIO is aligned to the goals of Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDIGITAL) and the National Investment Aspirations. The DIO will play a vital role to address the needs of investors and innovators in an increasingly complex and inter-connected digital economy and firmly establish Malaysia as the Heart of Digital ASEAN.
MIDA is the Government’s principal investment promotion and development agency under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to oversee and drive investments into the manufacturing and services sectors in Malaysia. The establishment of MIDA in 1967 was hailed by the World Bank as “the necessary impetus for purposeful, positive and coordinated promotional action” for Malaysia’s industrial development.
Today, MIDA has grown to become a strong and dynamic organisation of over 700 employees. Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur Sentral, MIDA has 12 regional and 20 overseas offices. MIDA continues to be the strategic partner to businesses in seizing the opportunities arising from the technology revolution of this era.
