DIGITAL CONTENT CREATORS CHALLENGE (DC3)

The Digital Content Creators Challenge (DC3) formerly known as IntellectualProperty Creators Challenge (IPCC).

DC3 Objectives

  1. To  create  more  quality  content  that  can  be  developed,  showcased  or  marketed regionally and globally

  2. To encourage and nurture new talents in turning their ideas into reality

  3. To attract creative content developers to come out with greater ideas and stories

  4. To provide platform for local and regional broadcasters to scout for good contents for their channels

What is DC3?

Is a platform for local talents to hone their creativity and accelerate the development of the digital creative content.

It is a competition-based program designed to assist content creators to develop and produce world standard digital content as well as increasing the creation of Intellectual Property.

The winners selected from this competition will receive a prize money to develop their proposed digital creative content with the support of industry experts through a mentorship programme.

Aimed to be one of the catalysts for local talents to penetrate local and global market.

Project Categories

Digital Comic

Up to 6 months project duration

Winners will be awarderd up to RM25,000 to develop a completed Digital Comic/Comic Anthology (min of 50 colored pages or min of 128 colored digital comic strips/webcomics).

Animation

Up to 8 months project duration

Winners will be awarded up to RM100,000 to develop a completed Animated Short Film, Pilot Episode or Sizzle Trailer.

Digital Games

Up to 10 months project duration

Winners will be awarded up to RM100,000 to develop a completed commercial-ready commercial-ready Digital Games.

Call For Subsimission

All applications must be submitted online through MDEC website at https://titan.mdec.my/DC3 no later than the respective date

Pre Screening

Upon closing of the submission, a due diligence will be conducted on the applications received.

Pitching Session

Eligible applications will be invited for a pitching session to present their project ideas to the DC3 panel of judges. All successful and unsuccessful applications will be notified on the official result through email after the pitching session.

Mentoring Session

The winners are given six (6) to eight (10) months depending on the category to complete their selected project. Within that duration, the winner are to undergo a compulsory mentorship program with selected mentors. The winner(s) and mentors will meet up on monthly basis as per the schedule provided by MDEC.

Disbursement

The claim process will be based on the progress milestone claims, which is based on completed submission and achievements of the verified deliverables by mentors.  The winners will be notified once the claim have been approved.

The Digital Content Creators Challenge (DC3) [formerly known as Intellectual Property Creators Challenge (IPCC)] a platform for local talents to hone their creativity and accelerate the development of the digital creative content.

Creation of creative content projects that can be commercialised and showcased with support and assistance from industry experts through mentorship program.

Digital Content Creators Challenge consists of three (3) categories as per the followings:

a) Category A: Digital Comic
This category includes:

Full story comic or
Comic Anthology

*Comic Anthology: Multiple series/stories

b) Category B: Animation

Animation series
Short Animation

c) Category C: Digital Games

a. Company:

Incorporated in Malaysia for not more than Five (5) years under the Companies Act 1965 or Companies Act 2016;

Active and a minimum of 51% equity held by Malaysian(s) as per shareholding structure in the SSM;
Not the subject of liquidation/winding up order/bankruptcy order;
Not a winner under any of the categories of Digital Content Creators Challenge in the preceding year; cooling period is two (2) years to re-apply for IPCC;

Has no going concern issue and/or dormant.
OR

b. Businesses/Enterprises / Sole Proprietorships / Partnerships:

Registered under the Registration of Business Act 1956 or The Trades Licensing Ordinance 1948 (Sabah) or The Businesses, Professions and Trading Licensing Ordinance (Sarawak) for not more than Ten (10) years;
Active and a minimum of 51% equity held by Malaysian(s) as per shareholding structure in the SSM;
Not a winner under any of the categories of Digital Content Creators Challenge in the preceding year; cooling period is two (2) years to re-apply for IPCC;
Not subject to dissolution of businesses/enterprises/sole proprietorship/partnership and/or cease doing businesses as going concern.

OR

c. Limited Liability Partnerships

Registered under Limited Liability Partnerships Act 2012 for at least One (1) year and not more than Ten (10) years
Active and a minimum of 51% equity held by Malaysian(s) as per shareholding structure in the SSM.
Not a winner under any of the categories of Digital Content Creators Challenge in the preceding year; cooling period is two (2) years to re-apply for IPCC.
Not subject to dissolution of partnerships and/or cease doing businesses as going concern
  • Successful entries will win prize money as per the followings:
  • Digital Comic– Up to RM25,000
  • Animation - Up to RM100,000
  • Digital Games – Up To RM100,000

*Note: The prize money is also subject to revision by the judges based on projects evaluated and budget availability.

The project duration will be as per the followings:

  • Digital Comic – Up to 6 months
  • Animation – Up to 8 months
  • Digital Games – Up to 10 months

The competition will be from 10th May 2022 until 15th June 2022.

MDEC will be promoting DC3 on MDEC’s corporate website and social media platforms with links to an online application form.

Applicant to complete the DC3 application form and submit the application form together with the required supporting documents.

  • Development and production of the digital creative content (Digital Comic/Animation/Interactive Media/Digital Games; and
  • Other project/activity identified and recommended by DC3 mentors (if any). And/or
  • The Prize money can also be utilized to undertake the Marketing and promotional of digital creative content (Digital Comic/Animation/Digital Games)
  1. The organizer will inform the participants via email about the date and time according to the category.
  2. Each participant will be given 10 minutes to pitch and 10 minutes Q&A to present their project.
  3. The projects will be evaluated by the appointed panel members consists of industry experts, broadcasters or publishers.
